Crosby Bronze Bushing Calculator

Calculation can be made to find the actual bearing pressure (BP) and compare this value to the maximum allowed pressure of 4500 PSI. If the actual bearing pressure exceeds the maximum allowable, you can change the line pull, the bearing size or consider roller bearings.

Bronze Bushing Properties:
Maximum Allowed Bearing Pressure (MBP): 4500 PSI

SNATCH BLOCKS ARE INTENDED FOR INFREQUENT AND INTERMITTENT USE WITH SLOW LINE SPEED (REFER TO PAGE 291). DO NOT EXCEED MAXIMUM ALLOWABLE LINE SPEED.

IMPORTANT

IN CERTAIN PRODUCT APPLICATIONS, THIS BEARING PRESSURE CALCULATION MAY RESULT IN AN ACTUAL BEARING PRESSURE GREATER THAN THE MAXIMUM ALLOWABLE RATING OF 4500 PSI. THESE PRESSURES, IN POUNDS PER SQUARE INCH OF AREA EQUAL TO LENGTH TIMES DIAMETER, ARE INTENDED AS A GENERAL GUIDE ONLY. THE ALLOWABLE UNIT PRESSURE DEPENDS UPON OPERATING CONDITIONS, ESPECIALLY IN REGARDS TO LUBRICATION, DESIGN OF BEARINGS, WORKMANSHIP, VELOCITY AND NATURE OF LOAD. PLEASE CONSULT CROSBY ENGINEERING FOR ADDITIONAL APPLICATION INFORMATION.

DO NOT ALLOW LINE SPEED TO EXCEED THIS VALUE!

Using the above parameters, calculation can be made to find the maximum allowable line speed for a given total sheave load. If the Actual Line Speed required is greater than the maximum allowable line speed calculated, then increase the shaft size and/or the hub width until the the actual required line speed is less than the maximum allowable line speed.

THIS CALCULATOR IS NOT INTENDED FOR USE IN SELECTING SNATCH BLOCKS. SNATCH BLOCKS ARE INTENDED FOR INFREQUENT AND INTERMITTENT USE WITH SLOW LINE SPEED (REFER TO PAGE 291).
